Economic Crisis

http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20081111_Parade_to_celebrate_World_Series_win_cost_city_more_than__1_million.html i think that even though our cities team won the world series, why is it the responsibility of the tax payers to pay for the parade. The million dollars or so that it cost i think could be put to alot of better things. for example helping families out who have lost their homes due to our current economic crisis.

Ah, while I agree that we could certainly use the money more efficitently, this city really needed a reason to celebrate. The parade may have cost a bundle, but it brought millions into the city and boosted sales of merchandise. I do not begrudge the expenditure, but want to know why the city hasn't collected millions in back-taxes - that is where it should be concentrating efforts!
